Beneficiaries 2017

Irish Community Rapid Response was established in 2008 to deliver professional pre hospital care directly to the site of medical emergencies throughout Ireland. Volunteer doctors have made a significant difference while working in association with the National Ambulance Service when responding to 999/112 emergency calls. Building on their experience and success they hope to provide Ireland’s first dedicated doctor led helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS). Based out of Cork Airport, Irish Community Air Ambulance will provide a vital lifesaving service to the greater Munster area, offering fast access to advanced clinical interventions at the roadside by highly trained pre-hospital emergency care physicians.

MS Ireland’s voluntary Branches are primarily run by people with MS and their families. They are governed by an elected committee to organise the activities of the Branch including all the services and fundraising activities. Voluntary Branches work very closely with the regional offices. Each voluntary Branch provides local support and services to people and families with MS in their own communities. The work of the each Branch depends on the resources it has, the needs of people in the community and the size of the Branch.

Bantry Tidy Towns hope to upgrade existing features within the town and create additional enhancing features to visually improve the overall appearance of the town. They have several projects earmarked for 2017 including redesigning flowerbeds etc. Bantry Tidy Towns also have weekly meet-ups on The Square from April to October each year to pick up litter from all over the town.

The Durrus Mens Shed is a local branch of the national men's shed network. A Men’s Shed is any community-based, non-commercial organisation which is open to all men where the primary activity is the provision of a safe, friendly and inclusive environment where the men are able to gather and/or work on meaningful projects at their own pace, in their own time and in the company of other men and where the primary objective is to advance the health and well- being of the participating men.
